Women-Owners to Meet at First WBCS’s Connections to Contracts Event in Irving

On Wednesday, April 10, the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) is hosting its first Connections to Contracts event focusing on increasing corporate supply chain opportunities for women-owned businesses.

This event features multiple procurement-focused sessions that are ideal for businesses looking to connect with corporations and government entities.

Sponsored by Oncor and Software Professionals Inc., the event begins with corporate roundtable meetings in which women-owned businesses have the opportunity to meet with over 30 decision-makers representing the major corporations and public entities in the Metroplex; and learn first-hand about opportunities available in their supply chain and their initiatives to do business with diverse suppliers. The keynote luncheon will feature representatives from local municipalities discussing how women-owned businesses are key to their growth plans.

In the afternoon, a new session format called Prime Time features three corporate members, DFW International Airport, Flour, and Shell, along with their prime suppliers. Attendees will learn about the prime suppliers’ upcoming projects and how to bid on them. This is the perfect way for smaller women-owned companies to get a foot in the door on larger projects with corporations.

With women-owned businesses being one of the fastest growing small business segments, it’s vital to provide opportunities to help these businesses grow. During the event, the Council will also announce the amount that corporate members spent with women-owned businesses in 2018. Last year, members reported over $8.6 billion spent in 2017.
