84% of Airbnb’s Parisian listings break the registration law.

Paris is Airbnb’s number one destination, with about 65,000 listings. 12m French people have Airbnb accounts, and about 400,000 of them are registered as hosts.

A new law that says all Parisian hosts must register with the city, so as to ensure they pay tax and don’t rent out their apartments for more than 120 nights a year. However, some hosts illegally rent their apartments full-time on Airbnb.

Now Paris is suing Airbnb and other accommodation platforms. The court case for Airbnb is scheduled for June 12.
